Refund Policy

This Refund Policy explains how voluntary contributions, cancellations, transfers, payment errors, and refunds are handled for courses and related programs offered by Inteyoga Shala LLP (“Inteyoga”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). It should be read together with our Terms of Service.

Inteyoga courses operate through our Gift-it-Forward model. No payment is required to submit an application, receive admission, or participate in an eligible course. A participant may choose to make a voluntary contribution so that another sincere seeker may receive a similar opportunity in the future.

Because contributions are voluntary and are not required as a condition of participation, they are generally non-refundable once made. The limited exceptions and procedures described in this Refund Policy apply to all voluntary contributions unless Inteyoga expressly agrees otherwise in writing or applicable law requires a different outcome.

1. Purpose and Scope of This Refund Policy

This Refund Policy applies to voluntary contributions made directly to Inteyoga in connection with yoga teacher training courses, retreats, workshops, online programs, or other activities offered under the Gift-it-Forward model.

The Refund Policy applies whether a contribution is made:

  • Before an application is submitted;
  • After admission has been offered;
  • Before the course begins;
  • During the course;
  • After the course has been completed; or
  • By another person on behalf of a participant.

A separate written arrangement may apply where Inteyoga offers a program outside the Gift-it-Forward model, provides a separately priced product or service, or enters into an individual written agreement. Where a separate written arrangement expressly conflicts with this Refund Policy, the more specific written arrangement will apply to that transaction.

This Refund Policy does not remove any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where applicable law requires Inteyoga to issue a refund or provide another remedy, that legal requirement will apply.

2. The Gift-it-Forward Model

Inteyoga’s Gift-it-Forward model is intended to separate access to yoga education from a participant’s ability or willingness to pay a fixed course fee.

A participant is invited to receive the course as a gift made possible through the support of earlier participants and contributors. After receiving that opportunity, the participant may voluntarily contribute an amount of their own choosing to help make a similar opportunity available to another sincere seeker.

The amount contributed may be:

  • More than the approximate cost of supporting another participant;
  • Less than the approximate cost;
  • A small symbolic amount; or
  • Nothing at all.

The participant determines the amount freely. Inteyoga does not require a minimum contribution as a condition of applying for, attending, completing, or receiving certification for an eligible Gift-it-Forward course.

The terms “gift” and “contribution” describe the voluntary nature of the model. They do not, by themselves, mean that the contribution is a charitable donation, that Inteyoga is a registered charitable organization, or that the contributor is entitled to a tax deduction. A participant should obtain independent tax advice before treating a contribution as tax-deductible.

3. No Payment Required

No payment or voluntary contribution is required to apply for or participate in an eligible Inteyoga course operated under the Gift-it-Forward model.

A decision not to contribute will not, by itself:

  • Prevent a person from submitting an application;
  • Reduce the likelihood of admission;
  • Change the teaching provided;
  • Reduce access to included course activities;
  • Affect assessment or certification; or
  • Create a debt owed to Inteyoga.

Admission decisions may still be based on genuine course requirements, including eligibility, prerequisite training, suitability, available capacity, health and safety, submitted information, and participant conduct.

Where a course includes optional expenses that are not part of the Gift-it-Forward arrangement, such as independently arranged travel, insurance, additional accommodation, optional excursions, or separately purchased products, the participant remains responsible for those expenses.

4. Voluntary Contributions Under This Refund Policy

A voluntary contribution is an amount freely selected and given by the contributor without a requirement to pay a fixed course price.

Before making a contribution, the contributor should consider:

  • Whether the amount is affordable;
  • Whether the payment details are correct;
  • Whether the intended currency has been selected;
  • Whether any bank or currency conversion fees may apply;
  • Whether the contribution is being made to the intended organization; and
  • Whether the contributor understands that the contribution will generally be non-refundable.

A contributor should not give an amount that creates financial hardship or that they expect to recover later because their personal plans, financial position, travel arrangements, health, or opinion of the program changes.

A contribution does not purchase priority admission, preferential treatment, a particular instructor, a particular room, a guaranteed outcome, or automatic certification.

Inteyoga may acknowledge receipt of a contribution through an email, receipt, payment confirmation, or account record. Such acknowledgment records the transaction but does not change the voluntary and generally non-refundable nature of the contribution.

5. When Contributions Become Final

Subject to the exceptions described in this Refund Policy and any mandatory legal rights, a contribution becomes final and non-refundable once the payment has been successfully authorized, processed, and received by Inteyoga.

The contribution remains non-refundable even where the participant later:

  • Changes their mind;
  • Chooses not to attend;
  • Cannot obtain leave from work or another commitment;
  • Experiences a change in financial circumstances;
  • Finds less expensive travel or accommodation elsewhere;
  • Receives a visa refusal or delay;
  • Arrives late or leaves early;
  • Does not complete the course;
  • Does not satisfy attendance or certification requirements; or
  • Decides that the experience did not meet a personal expectation.

This reflects the Gift-it-Forward principle that a contribution is voluntarily given to support the continuation of the opportunity rather than paid as a refundable reservation fee.

6. Participant Cancellation, Withdrawal, and Non-Attendance

A participant may cancel an application or withdraw from a course by notifying Inteyoga in writing.

Because payment is not required to participate, cancelling an application ordinarily creates no course-fee liability. However, a voluntary contribution already completed remains non-refundable under this Refund Policy unless one of the stated exceptions applies.

No refund is ordinarily provided where a participant is unable or unwilling to attend because of:

  • Personal or family circumstances;
  • Illness or injury;
  • Employment or educational commitments;
  • Travel disruption;
  • Passport or visa issues;
  • A change of residence;
  • Weather affecting personal travel;
  • Failure to review the course schedule or requirements; or
  • Any other participant-specific circumstance.

The same principle applies where a participant begins a course but later withdraws, is absent from required sessions, leaves before completion, or is unable to receive certification.

Participants are encouraged to obtain suitable travel and cancellation insurance where they may incur separate travel, accommodation, medical, or other expenses.

7. Cancellation by Inteyoga Before a Course Begins

If Inteyoga cancels a course before it begins, any voluntary contribution already received in connection with that course will be:

  • Refunded in full; or
  • Transferred to a future Inteyoga course, according to the contributor’s preference.

Inteyoga will contact the contributor using the contact information available in its records and request their preferred option.

Where a contributor chooses a transfer, the amount will be recorded as a voluntary contribution associated with the future course. A transfer does not guarantee admission where the future course has separate eligibility requirements or limited capacity.

Where the contributor chooses a refund, Inteyoga will return the amount actually received by Inteyoga, subject to the processing provisions in this Refund Policy.

Inteyoga is not responsible for separately arranged flights, rail tickets, visas, insurance, accommodation, local transportation, currency losses, or other third-party expenses resulting from the cancellation.

8. Course Changes and Rescheduling

A change to a course does not necessarily mean that the course has been cancelled.

Inteyoga may make reasonable changes to:

  • Class timings;
  • The sequence of the curriculum;
  • Instructors or guest teachers;
  • Teaching rooms or facilities;
  • Accommodation arrangements;
  • Meal plans;
  • Supporting activities; or
  • Other operational details.

Minor or reasonable changes do not create an automatic right to a refund of a voluntary contribution.

If Inteyoga materially reschedules a course before it begins and the new dates are not suitable for the participant, Inteyoga may offer a transfer to another course or a refund of the contribution associated with the affected course.

Whether a change is material will depend on the nature, timing, and overall effect of the change. A change of several class timings, replacement of an instructor, or substitution of reasonably equivalent facilities will not ordinarily amount to cancellation of the course.

9. Transfers to a Future Course

A participant may request that a contribution be associated with a future Inteyoga course instead of the course originally identified.

Except where Inteyoga has cancelled or materially rescheduled the original course, approval of a transfer remains at Inteyoga’s discretion.

When reviewing a transfer request, Inteyoga may consider:

  • How much notice was provided;
  • Whether the original course has already begun;
  • Whether the future course has available capacity;
  • Whether the participant satisfies the future course’s eligibility requirements;
  • Whether previous transfer requests have been granted; and
  • Any administrative or operational commitments already made.

Approval of a transfer does not convert the contribution into a refundable balance or cash credit. Once transferred, it continues to be governed by this Refund Policy.

A contribution may not be transferred to another person without Inteyoga’s prior written approval. Admission to a course is personal and may depend on the applicant’s qualifications, experience, health, suitability, and other program requirements.

10. Duplicate, Incorrect, and Unauthorized Payments

The general non-refundable rule is not intended to prevent correction of a genuine payment error.

A contributor should contact Inteyoga promptly where:

  • The same contribution was processed more than once;
  • An incorrect amount was entered;
  • The wrong currency was selected;
  • A technical error caused an unintended transaction;
  • The payment was made to the wrong course or participant record; or
  • The contributor did not authorize the transaction.

The request should include the contributor’s name, transaction date, amount, currency, payment reference, and a brief explanation of the error.

Inteyoga may request reasonable supporting information before issuing a correction or refund. This may include a payment confirmation, bank record, card statement, or communication from the payment provider.

Where Inteyoga confirms that a duplicate or incorrect amount was received, it will ordinarily refund the duplicate or excess amount.

Suspected unauthorized transactions may also need to be reported directly to the contributor’s bank, card issuer, or payment provider. Inteyoga may cooperate with a legitimate investigation but cannot control a financial institution’s internal procedures or timelines.

11. Refund Method and Processing Time

Where a refund is approved under this Refund Policy, Inteyoga will generally return it through the original payment method where reasonably possible.

A different payment method may be used where:

  • The original method is no longer available;
  • The payment provider cannot process the refund;
  • The original account has been closed;
  • Legal or security checks require another method; or
  • Inteyoga and the contributor agree to another arrangement in writing.

Inteyoga will aim to initiate an approved refund within 10 business days after receiving all information reasonably required to process it.

The time required for the refunded amount to appear in the contributor’s account is controlled by the bank, card issuer, payment processor, payment network, and any intermediary institutions. The amount may therefore take additional time to appear after Inteyoga has initiated the refund.

Inteyoga may request confirmation of payment details, identity, or account ownership before processing a refund where reasonably necessary to prevent fraud, error, or payment to the wrong person.

12. Bank Charges, Currency Conversion, and Taxes

Payments and refunds may involve third-party charges that are not controlled by Inteyoga.

These may include:

  • Card processing charges;
  • Bank transfer fees;
  • Intermediary bank charges;
  • Foreign transaction fees;
  • Currency conversion spreads;
  • Payment-provider charges; and
  • Taxes or statutory deductions where applicable.

Unless applicable law requires otherwise, Inteyoga is responsible only for refunding the amount that Inteyoga actually received or the amount that this Refund Policy expressly requires it to return.

A contributor may receive an amount different from the amount originally shown on a bank or card statement because exchange rates may change between the payment date and the refund date.

Inteyoga does not determine the exchange rate used by the contributor’s bank or payment provider and is not responsible for an exchange-rate gain or loss.

Any tax treatment of a contribution or refund depends on the applicable circumstances and law. Contributors should obtain independent advice where tax treatment is important to them.

13. Events Beyond Inteyoga’s Reasonable Control

A course may be delayed, interrupted, relocated, modified, moved online, shortened, or cancelled because of circumstances beyond Inteyoga’s reasonable control.

Such circumstances may include:

  • Natural disasters;
  • Flooding, fire, or extreme weather;
  • Epidemics or pandemics;
  • Government restrictions;
  • War or civil unrest;
  • Strikes or transportation disruption;
  • Utility or communications failure;
  • Unexpected venue closure;
  • Serious illness affecting essential personnel; or
  • Comparable circumstances that could not reasonably have been prevented.

Where reasonably possible, Inteyoga may respond by changing dates, changing the venue, modifying the timetable, replacing an instructor, moving part of the program online, providing alternative instruction, or transferring participation to a later course.

If Inteyoga ultimately cancels the course before it begins, the full-refund or transfer provision in Section 7 will apply.

If an event occurs after the course has begun, Inteyoga will consider the portion of the program already delivered, available alternatives, unrecoverable commitments, the circumstances of the event, and applicable law when determining an appropriate arrangement.

14. Travel and Other Third-Party Costs

This Refund Policy applies only to amounts received directly by Inteyoga.

It does not govern refunds from independent third parties, including:

  • Airlines;
  • Railway operators;
  • Taxi or transportation providers;
  • Hotels or accommodation providers booked independently;
  • Embassies, consulates, or visa service providers;
  • Insurance companies;
  • Banks or card issuers; or
  • Other suppliers selected directly by the participant.

Participants are responsible for reviewing the cancellation and refund terms of each third-party booking before making a commitment.

A refund of an Inteyoga contribution does not make Inteyoga responsible for a participant’s separate travel, accommodation, visa, insurance, medical, currency conversion, or other expenses.

Participants are encouraged to avoid making non-refundable third-party bookings until their course participation and travel arrangements are sufficiently certain.

A contributor who believes that a payment or refund has been handled incorrectly should contact Inteyoga before initiating a chargeback or formal payment dispute.

The contributor should provide:

  • Their full name;
  • The participant’s name, where different;
  • The transaction date;
  • The amount and currency;
  • The payment reference;
  • The relevant course; and
  • A clear explanation of the concern.

Inteyoga will review the available information and may request further documents where reasonably necessary.

A chargeback submitted after receiving the benefit of a course, or based on a claim that contradicts the voluntary nature of the contribution, may be disputed by Inteyoga using application records, attendance records, payment confirmations, communications, and this Refund Policy.

Nothing in this Refund Policy excludes, restricts, or replaces a mandatory consumer right or remedy available under applicable law.

General information about Indian consumer law is available through the official Consumer Protection Act, 2019 published through India Code.

16. Changes to This Refund Policy and Contact Information

Inteyoga may update this Refund Policy to reflect changes to the Gift-it-Forward model, payment methods, course operations, legal requirements, or administrative procedures.

The updated version will be published on this page with a revised “Last Updated” date.

Unless a change is required by law or agreed in writing, a material change will not ordinarily be applied retrospectively to alter the treatment of a contribution already made.

For questions concerning this Refund Policy, a voluntary contribution, a cancellation, a transfer, an incorrect payment, or an approved refund, please send us a message through our Contact Us page.
