A 200 hour yoga teacher training in Goa can be a serious first step into teaching, a month of structured personal study, or an expensive mismatch if you choose the wrong programme.
The difficulty is that those three options can look almost identical online.
A course page may say “200-hour”, “Yoga Alliance”, “residential”, “traditional”, “authentic”, “international certification” and “all-inclusive” without telling you the things that actually determine what your month will be like:
- whether the school is currently registered as an RYS 200;
- who teaches most of the 200 hours;
- how much of the training is live;
- how much actual practice teaching you do;
- what the school assesses before graduation;
- whether the room and meals in the headline price are the ones you actually want;
- what happens if you become ill or your travel plans change;
- whether the course is intended for beginners;
- what the certificate does – and does not – qualify you to claim.
This guide answers those questions using current Yoga Alliance standards, current published 2026-27 Goa prices, Government of Goa climate information, current Indian visa guidance, and Inteyoga’s presently published programme information.
One important point before we begin: Inteyoga is not currently enrolling a 200-hour batch. Its next 200-hour programme is planned for around mid-2027.
The current Courses & Fees page still lists the dates, duration and price as TBD. The existing 200-hour programme page describes the intended style, curriculum and daily rhythm, but those details should be reconfirmed when formal 2027 enrolment information is published.
Inteyoga’s current open residential programme is its advanced 300-hour training for students who already have foundational teacher education.
Quick answer: What is a 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in Goa?
A 200 hour yoga teacher training in Goa is a foundational yoga teacher-education programme delivered by a school in Goa. If the programme is offered by an active Yoga Alliance RYS 200 and you successfully complete the school’s requirements, the school can issue a qualifying 200-hour certificate. You may then apply separately to Yoga Alliance for the RYT 200 teacher credential.
The course certificate and the RYT registration are not the same thing.
Yoga Alliance currently requires an RYS 200 curriculum to include four educational categories:
- Techniques, Training, and Practice – 75 hours
- Anatomy and Physiology – 30 hours
- Yoga Humanities – 30 hours
- Professional Essentials – 50 hours
The complete programme is 200 hours. Those category minimums do not mean every RYS 200 teaches an identical curriculum.
Current Yoga Alliance standards also require RYS 200 Lead Trainers to hold E-RYT 500, and at least 150 of the 200 hours must be taught by Lead Trainer(s).
A major change from older guidance is delivery format. Yoga Alliance now permits RYS programmes to be 100% in person, 100% distance learning, or mixed. An RYS 200 currently requires at least 30 synchronous hours, meaning the teacher and trainees interact in real time. The older “maximum 40 online hours” rule should not be used as current guidance.
There is no authoritative Goa-wide TTC price average. Current 2026-27 residential examples checked in August 2026 range from roughly €1,197 for triple-share accommodation at one school to €2,499 for certain shared/private arrangements at others. Those prices include different room types, meals and facilities, so they should be compared as packages rather than converted into a single “Goa average”.

1. What Exactly is a 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training?
A 200-hour teacher training is best understood as foundational professional education, not a universal licence.
The “200” describes the programme’s training-hour level.
It does not mean:
- every graduate is automatically a good teacher;
- every course uses the same syllabus;
- the course must last a particular number of days;
- the certificate itself is RYT 200;
- the qualification gives you a legal right to teach in every country;
- you become a yoga therapist;
- you are qualified to diagnose injuries or medical conditions.
The school certificate comes first
When you successfully complete an RYS 200 programme, the school issues its 200-hour teacher-training certificate.
Yoga Alliance’s current standards say an RYS should assess the trainee’s knowledge, skills and experience before issuing that certificate.
The standards explicitly state that a school should not graduate a trainee simply because the person has completed the training hours if they cannot demonstrate proficiency in the material taught.
That is worth checking before you enrol.
Ask:
“What do I have to demonstrate to graduate?”
If the answer is only “attendance”, you have learned something useful.
RYT 200 is a separate individual registration
After graduating from a qualifying RYS 200 programme, you may apply separately to Yoga Alliance for RYT 200.
Current Yoga Alliance guidance lists:
- US$50 one-time application fee
- US$65 annual membership dues
- US$115 first-year total
There is currently no teaching-experience requirement before the standard RYT 200 credential.
Registration is voluntary.
Whether a studio, employer, insurer or local authority expects it depends on the setting in which you intend to teach.
A TTC is not the same as a retreat
Some residential teacher trainings are beautiful places to stay.
That does not make them retreats.
A retreat generally prioritises:
- personal practice;
- rest;
- wellbeing;
- free time;
- optional activities.
Teacher training should prioritise education:
- practice and technique;
- anatomy;
- philosophy and ethics;
- teaching methodology;
- observation;
- practicum;
- assessment;
- professional boundaries.
If what you actually want is a restorative holiday, choose a good retreat.
There is no advantage in buying a teacher-training certificate you do not want simply because the accommodation looks appealing.
2. What Does Yoga Alliance Currently Require in an RYS 200?
Yoga Alliance’s current RYS 200 standards use four educational categories.
This is important because many websites still reproduce older versions of the standards.
Techniques, Training, and Practice – 75 hours
This category covers foundational yoga practices and their teaching context.
Yoga Alliance’s current core competencies include areas such as:
- asana;
- pranayama and subtle-body concepts;
- meditation;
- sequencing;
- alignment principles;
- contraindications;
- the school’s chosen lineage or methodology.
Yoga Alliance does not prescribe one universal list of poses or pranayama techniques that every school must teach.
So a course that includes Bhastrika is not automatically more complete than one that does not.
The question is whether the practices fit the school’s educational approach and are taught responsibly.
Anatomy and Physiology – 30 hours
Current competencies include:
- anatomy;
- physiology;
- biomechanics;
- joint movement;
- movement limitations;
- relevant bodily systems;
- respiratory function;
- safe movement;
- contraindications;
- adaptations.
This should be yoga-relevant anatomy.
Memorising muscle names without learning how they affect observation and teaching is not enough.
Useful questions for a school include:
- Who teaches anatomy?
- What qualifications do they have?
- Is anatomy connected to asana and teaching?
- Are common contraindications discussed?
- Are teachers taught when to refer a student to a healthcare professional?
Yoga Humanities – 30 hours
This category includes areas such as:
- yoga history;
- philosophy;
- ethics;
- traditional texts;
- the relationship between yogic principles and teaching.
Ask which texts or traditions are actually studied.
“Ancient philosophy” is not a syllabus.
Professional Essentials – 50 hours
This category brings together teacher-development areas including:
- teaching methodology;
- sequencing;
- cueing;
- class management;
- professional development;
- the Yoga Alliance credentialing process;
- ethical commitments;
- professionalism;
- practicum;
- mentorship and feedback.
This category is particularly important if your goal is to teach rather than only deepen personal practice.
What about the other 15 hours?
The four category minimums above total 185 hours.
Do not turn the difference into a separate “15-hour elective category” unless the school or the current standard you are working from explicitly defines it that way.
Yoga Alliance’s current RYS 200 standard is competency-based and requires a complete 200-hour programme. Schools build the full programme around the required categories and competencies through their approved curriculum.
For a prospective student, the practical question is not “Where are the missing 15 hours?”
It is:
“Can I see the full 200-hour curriculum and hour allocation for this exact programme?”
3. Who Teaches The Course? The Lead Trainer Rule Matters
This is one of the most useful pieces of due diligence available to a prospective student.
Under Yoga Alliance’s current RYS 200 standards:
- an RYS 200 may have up to five Lead Trainers;
- each RYS 200 Lead Trainer must hold E-RYT 500;
- at least 150 of the 200 hours must be taught by Lead Trainer(s).
That does not mean one celebrity teacher must personally deliver 150 hours.
It means the school cannot market a senior name and then have the great majority of the foundational programme delivered by faculty who do not meet the Lead Trainer requirement.
Other faculty can still be valuable
Yoga teacher training often benefits from specialised faculty.
For example:
- an anatomy lecturer;
- a Sanskrit scholar;
- an Ayurveda educator;
- a business specialist.
Yoga Alliance’s current standards also set qualification expectations for other faculty.
The issue is transparency.
Before enrolling, ask for a faculty table:
| Module | Teacher | Qualification | Approx. hours |
|---|---|---|---|
| Asana / Techniques | Name | Credential / background | XX |
| Anatomy | Name | Relevant qualification | XX |
| Philosophy | Name | Relevant qualification | XX |
| Professional Essentials | Name | Relevant qualification | XX |
| Practicum supervision | Name | Relevant qualification | XX |
A school confident in its teaching team should be able to answer that without drama.
4. Can a 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Be Online?
Yes.
This is one of the largest factual changes from older Yoga Alliance information.
The old 40-hour cap is outdated
Older RYS 200 guidance allowed only a limited amount of online learning.
Yoga Alliance’s current standards allow Registered Yoga Schools to offer programmes:
- 100% in person
- 100% through distance learning
- through a mix of both
The current RYS 200 minimum synchronous requirement is 30 hours.
Synchronous means real-time interaction between teacher and trainees.
This can happen:
- in the same physical room;
- through live video;
- through another real-time approved learning format.
What this means when comparing a Goa course
A school can legitimately call a programme RYS 200 even if much of it is distance learning, provided it satisfies Yoga Alliance’s current standards.
So do not ask only:
“Is this Yoga Alliance?”
Also ask:
- How many hours are actually residential in Goa?
- How many are live online?
- How many are asynchronous?
- How much is prerecorded?
- How is practicum supervised?
- How is feedback delivered?
- How does the school assess trainees?
- When do I receive my certificate?
A programme marketed as “23 days in Goa” can be very different from another 23-day programme if one has significant study before or after the residential component.
Is residential automatically better?
No.
Online study can work extremely well for:
- philosophy;
- anatomy lectures;
- professional development;
- reading;
- written assignments;
- some live practicum.
Residential training can make it easier to provide:
- repeated direct observation;
- physical use of props;
- daily practice rhythm;
- informal contact with teachers;
- immersion in the school’s lifestyle;
- peer teaching.
The format should match the type of learning you want.
5. How Long Does a 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in Goa Take?
There is no Yoga Alliance rule that every RYS 200 must run for 21, 23, 25 or 28 days.
The 200-hour requirement is about training, not a fixed number of hotel nights.
Current Goa programmes illustrate the variation.
Current 2026-27 residential examples
Oceanic Yoga currently lists its Goa 200-hour programme as 22 nights / 23 days, with several intakes between October 2026 and May 2027.
Himalaya Yoga Valley currently lists its Goa residential programme as 25 days in person, with 2026-27 intakes including 12 October-5 November 2026, 5-29 January 2027 and 2-26 March 2027.
Palm Trees Yoga currently lists 22 nights for its 24 October-15 November 2026 and 27 February-21 March 2027 programmes.
Those examples show a common residential pattern of roughly three to four weeks.
They do not establish an industry rule.
Ask how the 200 hours are constructed
Request:
- total live hours;
- synchronous hours;
- asynchronous hours;
- daily scheduled hours;
- days off;
- required pre-course work;
- required post-course work;
- practicum hours;
- assessment time.
A shorter calendar is not automatically more efficient.
A longer one is not automatically deeper.
Beware of impossible-looking arithmetic
Yoga Alliance separately publishes a maximum instructional-hours-per-day policy.
If a course’s advertised calendar looks too short to accommodate its claimed training, ask the school to show how the hours are allocated.
Do not try to reverse-engineer it from marketing copy.
Ask for the schedule.
6. How Much Does a 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in Goa Cost in 2026-27?
There is no official Goa-wide average.
That is the first thing to understand.
A credible price comparison should use current named programmes and specify the room type and inclusions.
Current published examples checked in August 2026
| School / programme | Current published 2026-27 price example | Current published format / inclusions |
|---|---|---|
| Oceanic Yoga – 200-Hour YTT Goa | €1,197 triple / €1,597 twin / €2,197 private | 22 nights / 23 days; accommodation, three vegetarian buffet meals, AC room, Wi-Fi, pool access, study materials and other listed facilities |
| Himalaya Yoga Valley – 200-Hour Goa | €1,899 triple / €2,199 twin / €2,499 private under current promotional pricing | 24 nights / 25-day residential format, three meals daily, full training, course materials/manual and uniforms |
| Palm Trees Yoga Goa – 200-Hour YTT | From €1,999; current page lists €2,499 shared cottage | 22 nights, tuition/certification, accommodation, breakfast and lunch, course manual, facilities and listed extras |
These examples are not a statistical average.
They are a snapshot of current advertised packages.
Why the headline prices are not directly comparable
Oceanic lists three vegetarian meals.
Himalaya Yoga Valley lists three meals and uniforms.
Palm Trees Yoga lists breakfast and lunch on the current inclusion list, not a blanket three-meal package.
Room configuration also differs.
One school’s “shared” may mean:
- two people;
- three people;
- four people;
- a cottage;
- a dorm-style room.
So the useful comparison is:
total programme price for the room type you actually want, with the meals and mandatory extras you actually need.
Tuition-only can be much cheaper than residential
Oceanic’s current 200-hour page also lists a tuition-only option without food and accommodation at €999.
That is a good illustration of why people should not compare a tuition-only price with a full residential package and call one school “half the price”.
Costs outside the headline fee
Depending on the school, you may still need to budget for:
- international flights;
- domestic travel;
- visa costs;
- travel insurance;
- medical costs;
- local transfers;
- laundry;
- extra nights;
- personal meals;
- excursions;
- books;
- private-room upgrades;
- external Yoga Alliance registration after graduation.
Deposit and cancellation terms vary
Do not assume:
- deposits are refundable;
- deposits are transferable;
- illness creates an automatic refund;
- visa delay creates an automatic refund;
- a missed course can always be moved to another batch.
Read the actual policy before paying.
A lower price with a harsh cancellation policy can be more financially risky than a higher price with flexible terms.
7. What Should The Syllabus Actually Teach?
A serious 200 hour yoga teacher training in Goa should give you a curriculum before you pay.
The syllabus should be detailed enough that you can tell what the school means by words such as:
- Hatha;
- alignment;
- anatomy;
- philosophy;
- pranayama;
- teaching methodology.
Asana and technique
A foundational course will normally include:
- core postural families;
- safe transitions;
- sequencing principles;
- alignment concepts;
- modifications;
- use of props;
- contraindications;
- observation.
The specific poses depend on the school’s lineage and methodology.
Yoga Alliance does not require every RYS 200 to teach the same catalogue of postures.
Pranayama and meditation
A course may include:
- breath awareness;
- selected pranayama;
- meditation;
- mantra;
- subtle-body concepts.
The specific methods vary.
Do not judge a school by the number of pranayama names in the brochure.
More advanced-sounding techniques are not automatically better foundational education.
Anatomy and biomechanics
Look for:
- joints and movement;
- basic skeletal and muscular concepts;
- respiratory function;
- relevant body systems;
- biomechanics;
- physical limitations;
- adaptations;
- contraindications.
Anatomy should answer questions you will actually face while teaching.
Philosophy and ethics
A programme may draw on texts such as:
- Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras;
- Bhagavad Gita;
- Hatha Yoga Pradipika;
- lineage-specific source texts.
Ask what is actually taught and how the material connects to teaching.
Teaching methodology
Look for:
- sequencing;
- pacing;
- cueing;
- demonstration;
- observation;
- communication;
- class management;
- accessibility;
- boundaries;
- professionalism.
Practicum and feedback
Ask exactly what you will do.
“Practicum included” is too vague.
Ask:
- How many times will I teach?
- Will I teach as lead instructor?
- Who observes me?
- Do I receive individual feedback?
- Is there a second teaching attempt?
- Is the practicum graded or assessed?
Assessment should be real
Current Yoga Alliance standards require schools to assess trainees’ knowledge, skills and experience before issuing the 200-hour certificate.
Ask for the assessment method before enrolment.
Possible components may include:
- attendance;
- practical teaching;
- written assignments;
- oral assessment;
- observation;
- participation;
- conduct;
- final teaching demonstration.
The exact model varies by school.
8. Can Complete Beginners Join a 200-Hour TTC?
Sometimes.
There is no universal Yoga Alliance rule that every RYS 200 must accept complete beginners.
There is also no universal rule requiring six months, one year or three years of practice.
Schools decide their own entry requirements.
Flexibility is not the right test
You do not need to:
- touch your toes;
- do a headstand;
- sit in lotus;
- perform an arm balance.
Physical ability and teacher readiness are not the same thing.
More useful questions are:
- Are you familiar with basic yoga practice?
- Can you participate in the schedule safely?
- Are you willing to study anatomy and philosophy as well as asana?
- Can you receive correction?
- Are you comfortable teaching in front of peers?
- Can you follow the school’s attendance and conduct policies?
Health disclosure matters
If you have:
- a significant injury;
- recent surgery;
- pregnancy;
- cardiovascular or respiratory disease;
- another condition that may affect intensive practice;
discuss it with the school before travelling.
A yoga school can adapt teaching within its scope.
It should not promise medical clearance or treatment.
What about age?
There is no single Yoga Alliance age rule for all RYS 200 programmes.
Schools set admissions policies according to their legal, safeguarding and residential arrangements.
Do not treat a marketing phrase such as “anyone can join” as an admissions policy.
Ask the exact school.
9. When is The Best Time for a 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in Goa?
There is no universal “best month”.
Goa’s climate, however, changes enough across the year that the season can affect your residential experience.
Government of Goa climate information describes Goa as hot and humid for much of the year, with the southwest monsoon arriving in early June and most rainfall occurring from June through September.
Mid-December to February
Government information describes a short winter season around mid-December through February.
For many international students, this period offers attractive conditions for residential training:
- lower rainfall;
- warm days;
- comparatively cooler nights.
Tradeoffs can include:
- busier tourism;
- higher travel demand;
- holiday-season pressure on flights and rooms.
October and November
These months follow the main monsoon.
They are popular with many yoga schools, but October is still a transitional month rather than a guaranteed dry-season formula.
Check the actual programme dates.
March to May
Conditions become hotter and more humid.
May is identified by Government of Goa information as the hottest month, with daytime temperatures that can exceed 35°C.
If you are considering a pre-monsoon course, ask about:
- shala ventilation;
- fans or air-conditioning where appropriate;
- practice timing;
- room cooling;
- hydration;
- schedule adaptations.
June to September
This is the main monsoon period.
Possible characteristics:
- heavy rain;
- high humidity;
- greener surroundings;
- more indoor time;
- rougher sea conditions;
- occasional transport disruption.
Some schools operate.
Some do not.
Do not assume a school closes or discounts simply because it is monsoon.
Check the exact 2026-27 schedule and price.
10. North Goa or South Goa: Which is Better for Teacher Training?
Neither is automatically better.
North and South Goa contain many different local environments.
North Goa
Yoga and wellness programmes operate around areas including:
- Arambol;
- Mandrem;
- Ashwem;
- Anjuna;
- nearby inland communities.
Some northern areas have dense tourism infrastructure, cafés, nightlife and wellness businesses.
That can be useful if you want activity outside training.
It can be distracting if the course expects early sleep and a tightly structured routine.
South Goa
Programmes can be found around:
- Agonda;
- Palolem;
- Patnem;
- Colva;
- Sernabatim;
- Benaulim;
- other South Goa communities.
Some locations are quieter and more residential.
Others are busy tourist areas.
Check the exact address
Before paying, look at:
- the road beside the property;
- nearby bars or event venues;
- distance from medical care;
- distance from shops;
- airport transfer;
- whether accommodation is on-site;
- whether the room shown is the room category you are buying.
The district name matters less than the immediate environment.
11. What Should International Students Know About Visas?
Use the official Government of India visa portal.
Do not rely on a yoga-school article, including this one, as your final visa authority.
The official e-Visa language needs to be read carefully
The Government of India’s e-Visa information currently includes attending a short-term yoga programme among permitted purposes for eligible e-Visa travellers.
The same official guidance also discusses short-term courses and distinguishes formal or structured programmes that issue qualifying certificates or diplomas.
Because yoga teacher-training programmes vary in how they are structured and certified, do not assume that one school’s visa advice automatically applies to every 200-hour TTC.
Before buying a non-refundable flight:
- check your nationality on the official Indian e-Visa website;
- read the current permitted-purpose wording;
- ask the school how it describes the exact programme;
- if necessary, confirm with the appropriate Indian mission or official visa support route;
- make sure your passport and travel documents meet current requirements.
Do not misdescribe the programme
If the programme is teacher training, do not call it something else simply to fit a visa form.
Use accurate information.
Travel insurance
For a residential course abroad, travel and medical insurance are sensible even when a school does not make them mandatory.
Check coverage for:
- medical care;
- trip interruption;
- cancellation;
- delayed travel;
- activities you plan to undertake.
12. How Do You Choose a Good 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in Goa?
Use a repeatable checklist rather than intuition.
1. Verify the school
If the programme claims Yoga Alliance registration, search the official Yoga Alliance school directory.
Confirm:
- school name;
- active status;
- RYS 200 designation.
A logo is not enough.
2. Ask for the Lead Trainer
Ask:
- Who is the E-RYT 500 Lead Trainer?
- How many hours are taught by Lead Trainer(s)?
- Who teaches the remaining modules?
For a current RYS 200, at least 150 of 200 hours must be taught by Lead Trainer(s).
3. Ask for the full hour breakdown
You want to know:
- total programme hours;
- synchronous hours;
- asynchronous hours;
- in-person hours;
- online hours;
- practicum;
- assessment.
Do not rely only on calendar days.
4. Ask for the actual syllabus
A detailed syllabus should show:
- techniques;
- anatomy;
- humanities;
- Professional Essentials;
- practicum;
- assessment.
5. Ask how trainees are assessed
Current standards expect assessment before certification.
Ask what can cause a student not to graduate.
That question is unusually revealing.
6. Check the room before comparing price
Ask:
- occupancy;
- bathroom;
- fan/AC;
- Wi-Fi;
- laundry;
- bedding;
- hot water;
- mosquito protection;
- whether accommodation is on-site.
7. Check the meal plan
“Meals included” can mean:
- two meals;
- three meals;
- breakfast and lunch only;
- food on training days but not days off.
Ask directly.
8. Read the cancellation and transfer policy
Do this before paying the deposit.
9. Ask about illness and injury
Ask:
- What happens if I miss training because I am ill?
- Is make-up work possible?
- What attendance is required?
- Where is the nearest medical facility?
- Who arranges transport in an emergency?
- Is insurance required?
10. Ask about touch and consent
A modern teacher-training programme should have a clear approach to physical assists and consent.
Do not assume hands-on adjustment is mandatory.
11. Ask about cohort size in context
There is no universal magic number such as 15 or 20.
Instead ask:
- How many trainees?
- How many trainers?
- How is feedback organised?
- How does everyone get observed during practicum?
A larger group with strong faculty coverage can work better than a smaller group with one overstretched teacher.
12. Contact a recent graduate if possible
Do not ask only whether they “liked it”.
Ask:
- Did the advertised teachers actually teach?
- Was the accommodation accurate?
- Was practicum meaningful?
- Were policies enforced consistently?
- What surprised you?
- What would you change?
Red flags worth investigating
A red flag is a reason to ask another question, not always proof that the course is poor.
Be cautious when you see several of these together:
- no identifiable Lead Trainer;
- RYT 300 used as if it were a valid Yoga Alliance teacher credential;
- guaranteed graduation regardless of attendance or assessment;
- “Yoga Alliance accredited” used loosely without verifiable RYS status;
- promises that a 200-hour graduate can diagnose or treat disease;
- no written cancellation policy;
- no clear accommodation address;
- unexplained mismatch between advertised days and training structure;
- medical claims used as sales promises;
- pressure to pay immediately for a supposedly disappearing last place;
- testimonials replacing a real curriculum;
- refusal to explain how online and live hours are divided.
What Can You Do After a 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training?
A 200-hour course gives you a foundation.
It does not give you a guaranteed career.
Apply for RYT 200 if it serves your goals
After qualifying training at an RYS 200, you may apply separately for RYT 200.
Yoga Alliance currently has no teaching-hour prerequisite for the standard RYT 200 credential.
Begin teaching within your competence
Possible settings include:
- yoga studios;
- gyms or fitness centres;
- community classes;
- private sessions;
- workplace wellbeing programmes;
- live online classes;
- retreats;
- volunteer teaching.
Your ability to work in a specific setting depends on local rules, insurance, employer expectations and your actual competence.
Keep scope clear
A 200-hour certificate does not qualify someone to:
- diagnose injuries;
- prescribe treatment;
- practise medicine;
- claim to cure disease;
- present themselves as a clinical yoga therapist solely because of the TTC.
Continue studying
Possible next steps include:
- teaching experience;
- mentorship;
- specialist continuing education;
- a 300-hour advanced training;
- children’s or prenatal specialty training;
- professional yoga therapy education where relevant.
200 + 300 does not automatically equal RYT 500
If you later complete qualifying advanced 300-hour training, that can form part of the RYT 500 pathway.
Yoga Alliance currently also requires at least 100 teaching hours before RYT 500 registration.
There is no RYT 300 designation.
Where Inteyoga Fits: The Planned 200-Hour Programme
Inteyoga, also known as Swami Krishnananda Yoga Vidyapeeth, is based at:
Plot No. 6, Novo Vaddo, Sernabatim, Colva, Salcete, Goa 403708, India.

- RYS 200
- RYS 300
- RYS 500
Important: the 200-hour programme is not open yet
Inteyoga’s current Courses & Fees page lists the 200-hour programme as:
- Coming soon by mid-2027
- arrival date: Coming Soon
- departure date: Coming Soon
- medium: English
- duration: TBD
- price: TBD
That is the information prospective students should rely on right now.
Do not treat an old timetable, historic fee or draft programme page as a confirmed 2027 intake.
What is currently described on the 200-hour programme page?
Inteyoga’s existing 200-hour page describes the intended programme as TTC Integrated Restorative Yoga with an integrated approach drawing on:
- Hatha Yoga;
- Raja Yoga;
- Satyananda Yoga;
- Sivananda Yoga;
- Yoga Nidra;
- Karma Yoga;
- Bhakti Yoga;
- Mantra Yoga;
- applied anatomy and physiology;
- Ayurveda foundations;
- teaching methodology;
- mock teaching.
It also lists traditional practices such as selected shatkarma, asana, pranayama, Yoga Nidra, philosophy and practical teaching.
Because the formal 2027 dates, duration and fee are still TBD, prospective students should reconfirm the final curriculum and schedule when enrolment opens.
Current draft daily rhythm
The existing 200-hour page presently shows this sample schedule:
| Time | Current published sample |
|---|---|
| 04:45 | Wake-up bell |
| 05:00 | Shatkarma |
| 06:15 | Herbal tea with fruits |
| 07:00-10:00 | Asana |
| 10:30 | Lunch / Mitahara |
| 12:00 | Lecture |
| 13:15 | Herbal tea with fruits |
| 14:00 | Lecture |
| 16:00 | Mantra, pranayama and Yoga Nidra |
| 18:30 | Dinner |
| 19:30 | Kirtan |
| 21:30 | Lights off |
This is useful for understanding the intended residential style, but it should not be presented as a final 2027 timetable until the programme is formally announced.
Intended food style
The current 200-hour page describes:
- vegetarian, vegan-friendly food;
- no-milk diet;
- herbal tea with fruits twice daily;
- lunch;
- dinner;
- prasad after kirtan.
Again, final 2027 inclusions should be reconfirmed with the published intake details.
Who is Dr. Ashutosh?
Dr. Ashutosh is Founder-Director of Swami Krishnananda Yoga Vidyapeeth and Inteyoga.
His current published qualifications include:
- MBBS;
- M.Sc. (Yoga);
- Yoga Master Level 6, Yoga Certification Board, Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India;
- postgraduate study in yogic sciences;
- Yoga Shikshak training through Bihar School of Yoga;
- additional qualifications in health-related fields listed on Inteyoga’s teacher page.
The relevant question for any TTC is not how long the biography is.
It is which subjects the teacher actually teaches and how their qualifications relate to those subjects.
For the final 2027 200-hour intake, prospective students should review the confirmed faculty and hour allocation when published.

Final thoughts
A 200 hour yoga teacher training in Goa is not automatically serious because it is in India, residential, or Yoga Alliance registered.
Those things tell you something.
They do not tell you everything.
Before paying, verify the school. Check the Lead Trainer. Read the full syllabus. Ask how the 200 hours are delivered. Understand the assessment. Compare the actual residential package. Read the cancellation policy. Ask what happens if you become ill. Understand the difference between the school certificate and RYT 200.
And decide what you actually want.
If your goal is to become a competent beginner teacher, prioritise practicum, feedback, anatomy, communication and scope.
If your goal is personal immersion, say that honestly and choose a programme whose educational structure still appeals to you even if you never teach professionally.
If your goal is simply a month in Goa with daily yoga, a retreat may be a better and more enjoyable purchase.
For Inteyoga specifically, the 200-hour programme is planned for around mid-2027, but the final dates, duration and fee are not yet announced. The current programme page can give you a sense of the intended Integrated Restorative Yoga approach, while the live Courses & Fees page should be treated as the source of truth for formal intake information.
Frequently asked questions
Is a 200 hour yoga teacher training in Goa enough to teach?
It is a foundational teacher-training level, not proof that someone is ready for every teaching environment. A graduate of a qualifying RYS 200 programme may apply separately for RYT 200. Actual employability depends on teaching skill, local requirements, insurance, the employer and the type of students you intend to teach.
Does a 200-hour certificate automatically make me RYT 200?
No. The school issues the completion certificate. Yoga Alliance registration is separate. If your training qualifies, you apply to Yoga Alliance for RYT 200 and pay the applicable registration and membership fees.
How much does RYT 200 registration cost?
Yoga Alliance currently lists a US$50 one-time application fee and US$65 annual membership dues, for a first-year total of US$115.
How much does a 200 hour yoga teacher training in Goa cost?
There is no official Goa average. Current 2026-27 residential examples range significantly depending on school and room type. Oceanic currently lists €1,197 triple-share, €1,597 twin and €2,197 private. Himalaya Yoga Valley currently advertises €1,899 triple, €2,199 twin and €2,499 private under its promotional pricing. Palm Trees Yoga starts from €1,999 on its current page. Compare inclusions rather than only price.
How long is a 200-hour TTC in Goa?
There is no fixed number of days. Current residential Goa examples run around 23 to 25 days, but Yoga Alliance regulates the training standards rather than prescribing one calendar duration. Hybrid and distance-learning formats can look very different.
Can an RYS 200 be fully online?
Yes. Current Yoga Alliance standards allow 100% in-person, 100% distance-learning or mixed delivery. RYS 200 currently has a minimum synchronous requirement of 30 hours.
Is the old 40-hour online limit still current?
No. That was part of earlier RYS 200 guidance. It should not be used as the current Yoga Alliance rule.
Does every RYS 200 Lead Trainer need E-RYT 500?
Under Yoga Alliance’s current RYS 200 standard, Lead Trainers must hold E-RYT 500. At least 150 of the programme’s 200 hours must be taught by Lead Trainer(s).
Is a 200-hour TTC suitable for complete beginners?
Some programmes are designed for beginners; others require an established practice. Yoga Alliance does not impose one universal pre-course experience requirement. Read the school’s actual admissions criteria.
Do I need to be flexible?
No. Flexibility is not the same thing as readiness to learn or teach. A good foundational course should teach modifications, limitations and safe practice rather than reward only advanced range of motion.
Is November to February the best time for training in Goa?
It is a popular period because it falls largely in Goa’s drier winter season. It is not universally best. March-May is hotter and more humid, while June-September is the main monsoon period. Choose based on the exact school, facilities and your tolerance for heat or rain.
Is North Goa or South Goa better?
Neither is automatically better. Check the exact neighbourhood, noise, transport, medical access, accommodation and course environment. A school in a quiet northern location may suit you better than a busy southern beach area, or vice versa.

What visa should I use for a 200-hour TTC in India?
Do not rely on a generic blog answer. The Government of India’s e-Visa portal includes short-term yoga programmes among permitted e-Tourist purposes but also contains conditions around short-term structured courses and qualifying certificates. Check the official current wording, your nationality, and the exact programme with the school or appropriate Indian authority before booking non-refundable travel.
Is Inteyoga’s 200-hour course open for enrolment?
Not yet. Inteyoga’s current Courses & Fees page says the next 200-hour programme is coming around mid-2027, with dates, duration and price still TBD.
Is Inteyoga currently offering any teacher training?
Yes. Its current open programme is the Advanced TTC 300-Hour Integrated Restorative Yoga (Including Yoga Nidra, Chakra Sadhana, and Prana Vidya Intensive) for applicants who already have foundational 200-hour teacher training or equivalent.
